Sleep Sounds
62 soothing sounds synthesized live - rain, ocean, fans, fire, forests, pure noise and tones. Mix, save, set a sleep timer or a gentle alarm. No downloads. No account.
Sleep Sounds is a calm, beautifully simple sound mixer that generates every sound in real time on your iPhone. There are no audio files and nothing to stream, so nothing ever loops audibly and the app works fully offline. Layer any of the 62 sounds, set each volume, save the result as a mix, and let a sleep timer fade it out - or let a gentle alarm fade it into birdsong in the morning. There is no account to create, no cloud, and nothing you do in the app ever leaves your device.
What's inside
- 62 sounds in 5 collections - Noise (white, pink, brown, grey, blue, violet, deep brown), Nature (rain, drizzle, rain on a tent, thunderstorm, ocean, stream, waterfall, wind, snowstorm, forest birds, crickets, frogs, owl and more), Home & City (box fan, ceiling fan, air conditioner, refrigerator, washing machine, fireplace, clock, keyboard, coffee shop, airplane cabin, train, car ride, distant traffic), Meditation & Tones (singing bowl, om drone, wind chimes, Tibetan bells, 432 Hz and 528 Hz pads, isochronic pulses, delta / theta / alpha / beta / gamma binaural beats) and ASMR & Body (heartbeat, womb, cat purr, slow breathing).
- Real-time synthesis - every sound is generated on the device with a small DSP engine. No downloads, no streaming, no data usage.
- Mix and save - layer sounds with individual volumes, start from 12 presets like Rainy Night, Deep Sleep, Ocean Cabin and Cozy Fireplace, then save, rename, duplicate and favourite your own mixes.
- Sleep timer - 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 minutes or a custom time, fading out over the last minute.
- Gentle alarm - repeat days and snooze; your mix fades out over two minutes while a soft synthesized chime, birdsong or soft bells fade in. A local notification acts as a fallback.
- Breathing exercises - 4-7-8, Box and Calm patterns with an animated circle and haptic cues, for 1, 3 or 5 minutes.
- Sleep log and stats - hours per night, average session, streak and the sounds you use most.
- Record your own sound - capture up to 60 seconds with the microphone (your fan, your cat, the sea) and loop it seamlessly inside any mix. Recordings stay on your device.
- Background playback with lock-screen controls and generated cover art, and it plays with the silent switch on.
- Home Screen widget with your favourite mixes, and Siri Shortcuts: "Play a mix", "Pause", "Set a sleep timer".
- Bedtime reminder, fade-in and auto-play of your last mix.
Private by design
- No account, no login, no email address.
- Fully offline: every sound is synthesized on the device. There is no backend, no streaming and no download.
- Your mixes, sleep log, alarm and settings are stored only on your device, in the app's own container and a small shared container so the widget can show your favourite mixes. Delete the app and they are gone.
- The microphone is used only while you record a sound, and recordings are saved on your device only.
- No analytics SDK, no advertising, no tracking. The App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
Free and Premium
The free version includes White Noise, Brown Noise, Rain, Ocean Waves, Box Fan and Fireplace, two at a time, plus every preset, the sleep timer, breathing exercises, the sleep log and the widget. Premium unlocks all 62 sounds, unlimited layering, the alarm, recordings, tones and binaural beats. It is available as a weekly subscription with a 3-day free trial, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and can be managed in your Apple ID settings.
Important: Sleep Sounds is a relaxation app, not a medical device. Binaural beats, isochronic pulses and tones are not a treatment for any condition. If you have trouble sleeping, talk to a doctor, and do not rely on the in-app alarm as your only alarm for anything important.
