Frequently asked questions

The needle jumps around or shows the wrong note.

Play one string at a time, let it ring, and keep other noise down. Mute the other strings with your palm. Harmonic-rich sounds (distorted guitar, low bass notes) can confuse any detector; try the neck pickup, roll off the tone, or play the 12th-fret harmonic. Pitchly already filters readings over a short window, so give it half a second.

How accurate is it?

On a clean signal the detector resolves well under one cent. The needle is green within ±5 cents, which is tighter than most ears can hear.

My instrument is not in the list.

Use the chromatic mode, which recognises any note, or build a custom tuning in Settings (Pro) with the exact pitches you need.

Can I tune to 442 Hz (or another reference)?

Yes. Tap the A4 badge at the top of the tuner or open Settings and set any value from 415 to 466 Hz.

The metronome drifts or stutters.

Pitchly schedules every click from a fixed origin so it cannot drift. If clicks stutter, your phone's battery saver may be throttling the App; add Pitchly to the battery-optimisation exceptions and keep the screen on while practising (the App does this by default).

Does the App record me?

No. Audio is analysed in memory and thrown away immediately. Nothing is saved or uploaded. See the Privacy Policy.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Google Play, not inside the App. Open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, choose Pitchly and tap Cancel subscription. To avoid being charged after the 3-day free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You keep Pro until the end of the current period. Uninstalling the App does not cancel the subscription.

I bought Pro but the App still shows the free limits.

Make sure the device is signed in to the same Google account you used to buy Pro, then go to Settings → Restore purchases. If a purchase is still "pending" with Google, Pro unlocks automatically once it clears.

How do I get a refund?

Google processes every payment, so refunds go through Google Play: request a refund. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, but email us if you need help with a request.

Does the App upload my data?

No. Pitchly has no server and no account. Everything stays on your phone. See the Privacy Policy.

How do I report a bug?

Please email us with what you were doing, what happened, and your phone model and Android version. A screenshot or screen recording helps a lot. We read every report.
